12/12/07: Testing of AC...problem with water passing
through AC units!!! I have never before had this happen I have been
in contact with the importer, & the manufacturer of these specific AC units, an
independent thermoelectric engineer, and another Thermoelectric manufacturer.
The input I got from the two latter sources recommended doing whatever is needed
to PERMANENTLY seal these holes allowing the expansion and contraction. I am
awaiting feedback from HI-COOL the manufacturer of the AC units I am using in
your cabinet . These are the same ones I have used for years ????
The pictures below show a 'successful' test along with detailed close-up photos
of design elements used to get SATISFACTORY results

Below are photos showing steps I am taking to fix the passing through
of water. Also is the basis for why I am doing what I am doing. Water passing
through the AC unit to the underside is caused by hole drilled by
manufacturer for wirings to 'pass through'. If AC units used in a vertical
position these holes will not have any effect. When AC is mounted on its back
[horizontally] as in my installations these holes ARE the source of water
passing thru in my opinion, and I am sealing them and re-routing the wires
externally.
